Write Dumb

This Dumb Guy

From proudly winning a poetry award at the age of six to never again winning an award he was proud of (insecurity, not ego), Dr. James Dowd is a sometimes-award-winning Writer and Creative Director with nearly two decades of experience spanning TV production and advertising. He’s also not a doctor, but the term “Dr. James Dowd” is super helpful for SEO.

In recent years, going from many quickly-cancelled TV shows at MTV to the adworld of Madison Avenue, James spends most of his time writing and creating for brands such as Kellogg's, Mercedes, Anheuser-Busch, Mars, Sealy, Sperry, Capital One, Guinness, Ford, (Is anyone still reading these?), Kraft, and the NHL. Currently, he’s the Chief Creative Officer at Rebel. Outside of all that, he spends his time zoning out on hiking trails, neglecting normal adult responsibilities, and hanging out with his mutts, Lucy & The Jeb.

If you’d like more of his annoying ramblings, or would like to book the good doctor, James Dowd, for a speaking engagement or Writer Workshops, go ahead and reach out with those boxes down below.

Speaking Engagements

Conferences, companies, bar mitzvahs, you name it, James will get on stage and talk like an idiot about how anyone can confidently and effectively write better if they only stopped thinking so much.

Writer Workshops

Book James for either a half-day or full-day workshop in which we will come to your office or event to teach people how to write better by thinking less through a series of interactive lessons and exercises.

Writer Mentorship

From guidance on breaking into industries to reviews or just having someone to answer questions, mentorship offers unique 1-on-1 support and communication with James, which most avoid, TBH.

James Dowd is hands-down probably the best writer in his cubicle. He might even be one of the best writers I know, and I know at least one other writer.”
